Liya Perkins

Liya has been counseling people as an IFP practitioner since 2019. She aims to strengthen her clients to work through their traumas, integrate their emotions into life, and find different aspects of themselves, including their identity, voice, and sexuality. She came to this work from an MA program at Columbia University. Her studies took an interdisciplinary approach in understanding the impact of political, cultural, economic, and emotional shifts in Russia and Eurasia, and how those served as underpinnings for religious radicalization. Learning about the effects and consequences of trauma on a global scale left her yearning to heal trauma on a local scale; with the individual. She brings that knowledge and approach into her work at the IFP institute.

Liya sees clients from the US and abroad on Skype, Zoom, or by phone. She can be reached through text or Whatsapp at 518-729-0033

“Liya is a compassionate, insightful, and no-nonsense therapist. She has a light touch when you are tender, and a firm hand when you need to be pushed.

She has guided me in unlocking painful memories from my past, and is helping me come to terms with their painful legacy. She is an expert in trauma-informed therapy, and with her help, I am learning to face my emotions, and deal with the fallout of having suppressed them for so long. Most importantly, with her support, I am starting to love myself in a real way.

Working with Liya has made me a more present and aware woman, wife, and mother, and I tell everyone I meet how incredible she is at this work. I highly recommend working with her if you want to access your full self-worth and potential! ” A.N. Queens
